World War 1 Records

We have compiled a series of records about local people who actively participated in the First World War – at that time, known as ‘The Great War’.

In addition to Wreningham residents, there were others residing elsewhere having family connections with Wreningham and we have included information about many of those, too. A transcribed summary of each of these is provided here.

There was also a General Election at the end of the war and official records from the time included Wreningham residents which provided each of their peace-time postal addresses as well as their war-time units and service numbers. A transcribed summary of these ‘Absent Voters’ details is provided here.

The Commemoration page provides details of the fallen in both World Wars and can be found here.

We have also created a summary of the broader lives and origins of all of Wreningham’s World War 1 participants – both those who died and those who survived. The summary has been made by combining information from multiple public sources, including census, church and military records; it provides an insight into the ongoing lives of many of the survivors.
